So what if Elvis did not really die but was living in a nursing home? What if John F. Kennedy did not die and lived in the same nursing home, and was black? Then what if stetson wearing ages old mummy was stealing the lives of the nursing home inhabitants? Well you would have a fantastic genre bending flick called Bubba Ho-Tep. Elvis played by everyone’s favorite B movie king, Bruce Campbell, and JFK played by Ossie Davis, give outstanding performances in this cult classic. “How could I go from the King of Rock’n Roll to this? An old guy in a rest home in East Texas with a growth on his pecker.” lamented by Elvis, or as he is known as in the home “Sebastian Haff”.
The dialogue and the interaction between Campbell and Davis is fun. The idea of an elderly King of Rock’n Roll and JFK fighting a mummy who steals the souls of his victims rectally, is both funny and horrifying at the same time. Watch this
